AN UN-NAMED GERMAN 16-BORE BOXLOCK NON-EJECTOR, serial no. 16019,
circa 1912, 29 1/2in. nitro barrels with raised tapered file cut rib, scroll detailing at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, scroll-back treble-grip action with finely matted top to standing breech, manual safety, pin cocking-indicators, bold foliate engraving on an finely matted background with game scenes of running hare, alighting duck and a pair of roe deer, action and barrels with later stamp 'H S 4', 14 1/8in. pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, fluted horn pistolgrip-cap, sling swivels, horn buttplate, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release, weight 6lb. 4oz.
Provenance: Together with a copy of the certificate issued by Lieut.-Colonel John Lawton, confirming the gun to be an honest acquisition by a Sgt. Crooks in Belgium, 1945.
The certificate reads:
